Inspiration for Contemplating Mark
After all these years of haunting Museums I still am absolutely enthralled in the presence of some of the Art work I see. This day I was visiting the Los Angles County Museum of Art. I rounded a corner to see this young lady in tears as she sat viewing this large Mark Rothko painting. Mark Rothko is a favorite, I love his use of simplified forms and the monumental impact that his work conveys, it is at times, breath taking. Evidently this young lady felt the same way I did…she sat and silently wept, giving me time to absorb both the emotion of viewing the painting and being able to also include the emotion of her viewing that same painting. To give the viewer just a clue to what is happening I’ve included that one piece of tissue lying beside her.
